Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely weekly cost reports and monthly management accounts for review by the Head of Finance.
- Compile variance analysis with detailed commentary on cost drivers, deviations from budget, and corrective actions.
- Support preparation of board-level financial reports and quarterly board packs in line with Group reporting requirements.
- Maintain the mine-level general ledger and ensure reconciliations are completed and reviewed within agreed deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors during the audit process.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts at mine level in alignment with Group timelines.
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets and prepare corrective action plans where variances are identified.
- Provide financial scenario modelling and business forecasting in support of management decisions.
- Prepare short-term and medium-term cash flow forecasts and submit to the Head of Finance for review.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions and goods received notes within delegated authority limits.
- Monitor stock-holding levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
- Ensure stores records are accurately maintained on the ERP system (Sage X3) and reconciled with physical stock counts.
- Provide administrative oversight of the mine-level IT function, ensuring IT resources are managed efficiently.
- Conduct periodic internal control reviews and report findings and remediation actions to the Head of Finance.
- Ensure segregation of duties is observed across all finance and stores processes.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing timely and accurate documentation.
- Provide direct line management to the Mine Accountant (GL Accountant), Stores Team, and IT, ensuring clear objectives and accountability.
- Monitor that deliverables are produced within agreed deadlines and to required quality standards.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and disciplinary processes within the Finance Department as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification: ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
- Experience in a mining or heavy industry environment and knowledge of Sage X3 and Zimbabwean statutory requirements (ZIMRA, NSSA, NEC) are advantageous.
