Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the setup, operation, and dismantling of drilling equipment at drill sites.
  • Handling drill rods, core barrels, drilling tools, and other equipment safely.
  • Assisting with core recovery, removal, handling, and preparation of core samples.
  • Maintaining accurate identification and safe handling of core samples.
  • Conducting routine inspections and assisting with basic maintenance of drilling equipment.
  • Ensuring the drilling area is kept clean, organised, and safe.
  • Assisting with mixing and managing drilling fluids as required.
  • Participation in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and operational challenges to the supervisor.
  • Performing any other duties related to exploration drilling operations as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Ordinary Level (O-Level) education or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Mining, Drilling Operations, Geology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working as a Drill Assistant, Core Handler, Mining Assistant, or General Hand in an exploration or mining environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of diamond drilling operations and core handling procedures is an added advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a demanding field environment.
