The Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture is inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Director, Gender Mainstreaming, Inclusivity and Wellness . This senior leadership role is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and employee wellness policies and programmes across the Ministry. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in promoting inclusive policies, strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders and ensuring that gender equality, disability inclusion and employee wellbeing remain central to the Ministry’s operations and national development agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the formulation, implementation and evaluation of gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness policies, strategies and programmes.
  • Provide recommendations to the Permanent Secretary in consultation with Heads of Departments.
  • Ensure Ministry programmes align with national development priorities and gender equality objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with:
  • Zimbabwe Gender Commission
  • Line Ministries
  • Civil Society Organisations
  • Other relevant stakeholders
  • Promote collaboration to strengthen gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness initiatives across the Ministry.
  • Coordinate the implementation of policies and programmes that support the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities within the Ministry.
  • Audit Ministry policies, procedures and systems to ensure the workplace promotes employee wellbeing.
  • Design and implement effective workplace wellness programmes that foster a healthy organisational culture.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Gender Studies or a Social Science degree with a strong focus on Gender Mainstreaming or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years’ experience at Deputy Director level.
  • Strong understanding of Zimbabwe’s national development policies, priorities and strategic goals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and analytical skills.
  • Ability to utilise Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in designing, implementing and monitoring gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness programmes and projects.
