Reporting to Deputy Auditor-General Administration
The Corporate Secretary plays a vital role in ensuring good governance, compliance, and legal integrity. This role is crucial for supporting the board of directors, managing corporate records, and facilitating transparent communication with all stakeholders. The Corporate Secretary serves as a primary point of contact for legal matters and is responsible for advising the Auditor-General (OAG), including defending the Auditor General and the Audit Office in legal forums and Parliamentarians when appropriate. This position also serves as a key liaison between the Audit Office and Parliamentarian Committees.
Key Responsibilities:
* OAG Secretarial Services: Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, advise the Auditor-General and OAG on governance matters, prepare board meeting agendas and papers, and maintain accurate records.
* Legal Advisory Services: Identify and mitigate legal risks, provide legal guidance to audit staff, draft legal documents, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
* Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing corporate policies and keep them updated with regulatory changes.
* Parliamentary Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and present briefs to Parliamentary Committees, provide support during committee hearings, and engage with external legal advisors, regulators, and other SAIS.
* Communication: Lead the development and implementation of communication strategies, serve as primary contact for board management and communications, and oversee corporate branding.
* Legal Compliance and Ethics: Ensure legal and ethical compliance throughout legal Service Unit.
* Training & Development: Orient new board members and organize governance education.
* Research and Knowledge: Developing and reviewing experiments work plans and budgets.
Educational Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
* Practising Lawyer in practice.
* Registered with the Zimbabwe Law Society.
Job Experience:
* 5 years experience in Legal Practice, with at least 3 years at a management level.
