VACANCY 

A dynamic and established player in Zimbabwe’s insurance sector is seeking to recruit a Chief Underwriter to lead its underwriting operations. This is a key leadership role that requires both technical expertise and strong business acumen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and manage the underwriting function, ensuring sound risk assessment and policy issuance.

• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.

• Drive business development initiatives in collaboration with the marketing team.

• Conduct product reviews and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop the underwriting team.

• Analyse and monitor portfolio performance to support decision-making.

• Liaise with brokers, clients, and reinsurers to foster business growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.

• Professional qualifications such as CII or IISA will be an added advantage.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level in the insurance industry.

• Solid understanding of underwriting principles across all major classes of insurance.

• Proven experience in marketing and business development within the insurance sector.
