JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for providing Structural Engineering services, advice, recommendations and guidance to contractors and Council User Departments to ensure high standards of infrastructure development and safety standards.

KEY RESULT AREAS

* Produces structural designs and drawings
* Carries out site inspections and supervises contractors on site.
* Evaluates payment certificates on structural work done by contractors.
* Inspects Council buildings and oversees repairs and maintenance works.
* Liaises with other technical sections.
* Advises the City Architect on structural engineering issues.
* Supervises and trains junior staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* A Degree in Structural Engineering or Equivalent.
* At least 5 years’ experience in Civil and Structural Management/Design and Project Management
* Corporate Membership of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers a must.
* Registered with Engineering Council of Zimbabwe as a Professional Engineer.
* Experience in Structural Engineering work in a Local Authority setting is an added advantage.
* A Master’s Degree in Construction Project Management an added advantage.
* A clean class 4 Driver’s Licence a must
