Job Summary
The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) Early Warning Team (EWT) seeks a full-time Regional Field Accountant based in Harare, Zimbabwe. FEWS NET is an integrated set of activities funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is intended to provide timely, accurate, evidence-based, and transparent food security early warning information and analysis.
Chemonics International (Chemonics) implements the FEWS NET EWT, a team charged with integrated emergency food security analysis through a Washington-based technical office and more than 20 field offices.
Roles And Responsibilities
- The Southern African RFA will advise field offices on financial compliance matters, review and analyze local account submissions, and help projects devise approaches for asset and liability management.
- The Southern Africa RFA will also train other appropriate field personnel in the use of accounting software and tracking mechanisms.
Qualifications And Experience
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required; French language skills are highly desirable.
- At least six years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required; advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) is highly desirable.
- At two years of regional or international experience in accounting and auditing is required Prior knowledge of accounting systems (ABACUS, QuickBooks) highly desirable
- Experience performing accounting audits or reviews
