Position Summary
The Grain Marketing Board is looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a critical role that supports the organization’s financial integrity through strong controls, accurate reporting, and strategic insight. The incumbent will be responsible for managing key accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering timely and actionable financial data. Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies, policies, and standard operating procedures.

Evaluate and enhance internal control systems to promote transparency and accountability.

Review and compile management reports, financial statements, and operational insights.

Monitor budgetary controls, analyze variances, and advise on cost-saving measures.

Maintain accurate financial records, including journals, ledgers, and asset registers.

Process statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.) in accordance with regulatory deadlines.

Conduct monthly reconciliations for payroll, supplier accounts, suspense accounts, and more.

Assist in preparing presentations and reports for management and Board reviews.

Liaise with internal and external auditors and facilitate audits through comprehensive documentation.

Supervise, coach, and support junior staff within the Finance Department.

Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 5 O’ Levels, including English Language and Mathematics.

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required.

A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an added advantage.

A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CA(Z)) is highly desirable.

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar financial accounting role.
Essential Competencies

Proficiency in SAP Accounting Software or equivalent ERP system.

Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Excellent numerical accuracy and ability to analyze financial data.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to work independently and under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
