MARKET ACQUISITION OFFICER – RentHub

RentHub is a Zimbabwean digital marketplace ecosystem designed to bring everyday needs into one platform. People can use RentHub to:
– Find and list properties for rent, sale or other property needs
– Find places to live, work or do business
– Advertise and find services
– Sell and discover products
– Find jobs and advertise job opportunities
– Become service providers and find customers
– Connect buyers and sellers
– Find transport and ride-related services
– Discover businesses, products and services around them

The vision is bigger than simply being a property app. RentHub wants to become one of the platforms Zimbabweans think of first when they need something, want to advertise something, or want to find a customer.

The challenge is simple: people cannot use what they don’t know exists. That is where the Market Acquisition Officer comes in.

The Role

RentHub is looking for a highly energetic, creative and results-driven Market Acquisition Officer to take RentHub to the Zimbabwean market.

The job is not simply to “do marketing.” The job is to create a market.

The Market Acquisition Officer will be responsible for taking RentHub from a relatively unknown platform to a widely recognised and actively used digital marketplace.

The successful candidate must be comfortable going into the streets, businesses, communities, universities, markets, shopping centres, residential areas and workplaces to introduce RentHub, demonstrate it, recruit users and help people start using the platform.

The role requires someone who can look at a situation and say: “How can I get 100 people to know about RentHub today?” Then go and make it happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications or education do I need to become a Market Acquisition Officer at RentHub?

Most employers in Zimbabwe require a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field from institutions like UZ, MSU, or reputable private colleges. Practical experience in sales, customer acquisition, or digital marketing is highly valued. Certifications in digital marketing or data analytics from platforms like Google or local training providers can strengthen your application.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a Market Acquisition Officer?

You will identify and onboard new property owners and landlords to the RentHub platform through cold calling, site visits, and relationship building. Daily tasks include market research, competitor analysis, preparing proposals, and tracking acquisition metrics. You will also collaborate with the marketing team to develop campaigns targeting specific suburbs or property segments.

How does work culture and employer expectations differ in Zimbabwe's marketing sector?

Zimbabwean employers typically expect high flexibility, including willingness to work beyond standard hours and travel frequently to meet targets. Personal initiative and self-motivation are essential, as micromanagement is uncommon but performance pressure is high. Building trust through face-to-face relationship building remains more important than in purely digital markets.

What career progression opportunities exist for Market Acquisition Officers in Zimbabwe?

With strong performance, you can advance to Senior Market Acquisition Officer, Team Lead, or Regional Manager roles within 2-4 years. Some professionals transition into broader marketing management, business development, or operations positions. Experience in property tech or proptech also opens doors in real estate agencies, fintech, or entrepreneurship.

What benefits should I expect from employers like RentHub in Zimbabwe?

Benefits vary significantly by employer size and financial stability, but typically include statutory pension contributions through NSSA, limited medical aid coverage, and annual leave as prescribed by labour law. Some tech-enabled companies offer performance bonuses, airtime allowances, or fuel reimbursements for field work. Always confirm benefit details during the interview process, as informal sector practices remain common.

How should I apply and what do Zimbabwean employers look for in candidates?

Submit a concise CV highlighting measurable achievements in sales or customer acquisition, paired with a tailored cover letter demonstrating knowledge of the local property market. Employers prioritize candidates with proven track records, strong communication skills in English and local languages, and reliable personal transport. Prepare for practical assessments such as mock pitches or territory planning exercises during the interview process.
