GROUP FINANCE & INVESTMENT MANAGER Reports To: Group Chief Executive Officer About the Position Harare Institute of Public Health (HIPH) invites applications from highly motivated, strategic and results-driven professionals for the position of Group Finance & Investment Manager. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in financial management, corporate treasury and investment planning across the Group. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing sound financial strategies, safeguarding the Group’s financial resources, evaluating investment opportunities and providing high-quality financial advice to support informed decision-making. The role requires a commercially minded professional capable of driving financial sustainability, enhancing shareholder value and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing the Group’s financial strategy, policies and budgets in line with organisational objectives.
  • Leading the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts and capital expenditure plans while monitoring financial performance against approved budgets.
  • Providing strategic financial analysis, management reports and recommendations to Executive Management and the Board to support effective decision-making.
  • Ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Managing the Group’s cash flow, treasury operations, banking relationships and working capital to ensure financial stability and operational efficiency.
  • Identifying, evaluating and managing investment opportunities that maximise shareholder value while mitigating financial risk.
  • Overseeing investment portfolios through effective asset allocation, portfolio performance monitoring and risk management.
  • Developing financial models, profitability analyses and pricing strategies to support new business initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Managing relationships with banks, investors, regulatory authorities, tax administrators and other financial stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of effective internal financial controls, corporate governance standards and risk management frameworks.
  • Monitoring departmental performance through clearly defined financial key performance indicators and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Providing leadership, coaching and performance management to the Finance and Investment team while fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism and high performance.

Requirements

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Investment Management, Accounting, Economics or another related quantitative discipline from a recognised institution.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA) will be an added advantage.
  • Membership of a recognised professional accounting or finance body will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ progressive experience in corporate finance, investment management, corporate treasury or investment banking.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a managerial or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, investment appraisal, treasury management and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience in managing institutional stakeholder relationships, including banks, investors and regulatory authorities.
  • A strong track record of driving financial performance, operational efficiency and sound investment decisions.
  • Excellent financial planning, budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Strong investment analysis and portfolio management capability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), corporate governance and taxation.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and strategic financial management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
