Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair tractors, trucks, pumps, farm vehicles, feed mixers, milling machines, irrigation pumps and processing equipment
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement corrective actions
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and reduce downtime
- Maintain tools or equipment including keeping the workshop clean and organized
- Follow occupational health, safety and institutional maintenance standards
- Assist with mechanical system upgrades
- Support welders, electricians, builders on joint projects
- Maintain repair or service logs, track spare parts usage, report major faults and resource needs
- Provide input for weekly maintenance reports and train assistants on safe tool use
- Liaise with stores for parts and work with tractor drivers to ensure vehicles are roadworthy
- Maintain machinery for livestock and crop units
Requirements
- A class 1 certificate in motor mechanics or equivalent from a reputable institution
- At least 2 years’ experience in trackless mining equipment, repair and maintenance of automotive engines, power generators, diesel engines and related components
- Solid understanding of safety practices for all workshop equipment
- Quick to learn and work with new technologies and machine/vehicle models
