POSITION : WELDER (CLASS 1)
GRADE : 9
DEPARTMENT : ENGINEERING SERVICES DEPARTMENT
REPORTING TO : MECHANICAL FOREMAN

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Journey man Class 1 Welder or National Diploma in welding or metal fabrication.
• Knowledge of municipal welding fabrications systems is a must
• Knowledge of municipal classic welding maintenance.
• Local Authority experience in metal fabrication Maintenance an added advantage
• At least five (5) O’ level passes included Maths and English
• At least 2 year’s work experience 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Assisting in Maintenance of Council fabricated works.
• Assisting in Automotive Plant Maintenance
• Taking part in the repairing of Mechanical works.
• Assisting in the Procurement of spares and equipment. 

• Interpreting working drawings correctly, fabricating and welding quality structures using appropriate methods and machinery
  • Performing project tasks as instructed and completing tasks without “redos”
  • Planning for tooling and spares with regards to daily and scheduled works
  • Performing risk assessments for every task, maintaining and focusing on safe work practices and a safe work environment
  • Teaming up in preparing, establishing and implementing appropriate working procedures to achieve deadline
  • Contributing to the success of the Engineering Department by performing all other essential duties as assigned.
