WEB COORDINATOR – Acled

Armed Conflict Location & Event Data ( ACLED ) is seeking an experienced Web Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations, technical maintenance and ongoing improvement of its main website and associated web properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation, performance and reliability of ACLED’s Drupal-based website and associated web properties.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, coordinating with the development team where necessary.
  • Handle bug fixes, plugin and module updates, security patches and CMS configuration.
  • Perform minor frontend customizations and fixes within Drupal’s theming and module layer.
  • Monitor website performance, uptime and Core Web Vitals.
  • Manage version control, staging environments and deployment processes in coordination with the development team.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG), security protocols and frontend performance best practices.
  • Develop and maintain ACLED’s overall SEO strategy.
  • Manage keyword strategy and site architecture for discoverability.
  • Coordinate SEO activities with content and publications teams.
  • Conduct site health audits and competitive analysis.
  • Oversee and support the Digital Officer’s ongoing SEO monitoring, technical SEO and keyword tracking.
  • Produce regular web performance reports.
  • Respond to ad hoc analytics requests from across the organization.
  • Manage analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Looker.
  • Define meaningful metrics for site engagement, usability and content effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for web-related requests from other departments.
  • Triage and prioritize feature requests, improvement proposals and bug reports.
  • Coordinate and contribute to web projects such as site redesigns, new tools and content restructuring.
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Development, Analysis and External Affairs teams to translate organizational needs into web deliverables.
  • Directly supervising the Digital Officer.
  • Providing day-to-day guidance, feedback and professional development support.
  • Contributing to recruitment and onboarding of web team members where required.
  • Supporting colleagues in effectively using the CMS and other web tools.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, digital media, communications or another relevant field, or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing or coordinating a content-driven website, including hands-on technical work.
  • Strong working experience with Drupal CMS , including site building, configuration, module management, theming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong working experience with PHP .
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS and web standards.
  • Experience with SEO strategy and tools such as Google Search Console, Semrush, Screaming Frog or similar.
  • Experience with web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Looker or similar.
  • Familiarity with web performance optimization, WCAG accessibility standards and security best practices.
  • Experience with Git and deployment workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring at least one team member.
