ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING SERVICES
Appicabons are invited from sutably qualified ard experienced persons to fit the above mentioned position which has become vacant at Gweru City Council.

ACADEMIC. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE
⦁ Degree m C v I Eng neenng or equivalent from a reputable university.
⦁ At least three ;3) years post qualificabon relevant experience
⦁ Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers corporate membership and registered with the Engneering Council of Zimbabwe iECZj $ a mandatory.
⦁ Clean class 4 Driver’s licence.
⦁ No criminal record,
⦁ Adean and proven track record cf service within the relevant field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
⦁ Design construction and maintenance of the water and sewerage reticulation systems.
⦁ Preparing departmental budgets, to guide operations so as to ensure consstent and efficient supply of pertab e water to consumers
⦁ Mcnitorng excenses for the department through maintaning commitment and expenses register as well as taking appropriate actions where there are variances
⦁ Providing specifications for items to be bought to enable prccurementof quality goods
⦁ Overseeing the implementation of the preventative and corrective maintenance program of pumping plant by the workshop crew through spot checks of maintenance schedules
⦁ Formulating and setting monthly water production targets m line with the catchment’s strategic goals
⦁ Analysing and preparing month’y water production statistics to ensure that monthly progressistracked
⦁ Undertaxing regular and routine visits to water supply stations to assess plant efficiency and adequacy.
⦁ Carrying out teasbility studios on proposed now wale- supply schemes through desk sluces and physical assessment of prop-used stes to ascertain the needs when required
⦁ Writing feasibility reports detail ng findings cf assessment, ana yses the cost benefit of undertaking the project anc recommendations fcr consideration by senior management.
⦁ Analysing avaiable tecinology options after the feasibility study Io consder so as Io comprehensively address the situation
⦁ Carrying out detailed design using Engineering tools where necessary of water supples after feasibility studes
⦁ Preparing wotkng drawings for the project to show the configurator, layout and how the water supply scierne will be constructed.
⦁ Compiling bills of quantities for designed projects to faciitate costing and tendering
⦁ Preparing tender documents of equipment that needs to be purchased for the procurement committee
⦁ Preparing program of works for renabditation and upgrading of water supply nfrastiucturc.
⦁ Allocating respcnsibiibes to staff in line wth business needs by inking individual competences to busness needs and then monitors the performance
⦁ Managing and developing staff through coaching mentoring and training so as to n crease efficiencies in operations
⦁ Any otier duties assigned from time to time by superiors.
