Caritas Zimbabwe Diocese of Chinhoyi is working to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, including school going children. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse and Logistics Officer to join our team
JOB SUMMARY
The warehouse and logistics Officer will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage and distribution of food commodities for school feeding program. The officer will ensure that commodities are stored and handled properly, and that distributions are planned and executed efficiently

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
1. Manage the receipt, inspection and storage of food commodities in the warehouse
2. Ensure that commodities are stored in a safe and secure manner, and that the warehouse is well organized and clean
3. Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy and detect any discrepancies

LOGISTICS AND DISTRIBUTION
1. Plan and coordinate the distribution of food commodities to schools
2. Ensure that distributions are executed efficiently and on schedule
3. Collaborate with transporters and drivers to ensure that commodities are delivered safely and on time
COMMODITY TRACKING
1. Track the movement of commodities from the warehouse to the schools
2. Use commodity tracking tools to monitor stock levels, movements and balances
3. Investigate any discrepancies or losses of commodities
DISTRIBUTION PLANNING
1. Develop and implement distribution plans to ensure that commodities are delivered to schools on schedule
2. Collaborate with program staff to ensure that distributions are aligned with program goals and objectives
FEEDING INSPECTION
1. Conduct regular inspections of food commodities and school feeding sites to ensure that commodities are being stored and handled properly
2. Identify any issues of concerns related to food safety and hygiene, and report to the program manager
DRIVER AND VEHICLES MANAGEMENT
1. Must hold a valid class two driver’s license and be able to drive a truck or other vehicles as needed
2. Manage and supervise drivers and vehicles to ensure that commodities are delivered safely and on time

Qualifications and Experience

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field
2. At least five years’ experience in food distribution, logistics, warehousing or supply chain management.
3. Five year class two driver’s license
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
1. Strong knowledge of logistics, warehousing and supply chain management principles
2. Experience with commodity tracking and food distribution planning
3. Excellent organizational and time management skills
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Valid class two driver’s license

2. Strong work ethics and commitment to delivering results
3. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
