UNIT MANAGER – NATIONAL FOODS 494 views

Take the lead on co-ordinating, planning and directing production activities within our growing snacks business unit in Harare, that produces some of Zimbabwe’s most loved brands: King Kurls, Zap Nax, Popticorn and Sesame Snax. This role reports into the Managing Executive and calls for an individual who aligns with National Foods’ core values: that of hardworking, resilient, innovative and results driven.

With the ability to thrive within a highly pressurized environment, you will be required to take overall responsibility for the site’s processes, ensuring that quality, efficiencies and procedures comply, as you prioritise production to meet planned volume demands and budgets.

Your focus will be on the smooth running and high performance of your unit, as you work with your 7 direct reports and diverse 300 plus employees, to manage production processes to achieve finished product quality. This will involve the following responsibilities:

Duties And Responsibilities

Optimise on the usage of manpower, machinery, raw and packaging material
Present and analyse production performance reports
Comply with the planned maintenance schedule ensuring that all site operations are performed and aligned with mandatory legislation
Propose CAPEX projects, identifying and recommending innovation to improve efficiencies
Manage returns to achieve product recovery
Achieve SHE targets for the plant and compliance with group SHE policy.

Qualifications And Experience

To qualify for this role, you will require a BSc. Hons in Food Science, Production Management, Process Engineering or related field, together with:

Production management experience of 3 years minimum is a must
Exposure in a Snacks Business environment would be a definite advantage
Proven experience in working with Soft/Hard Extruders and multihead weigher Packing Machines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must
