POSITION : TRAINEE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ASSISTANT X 10

Reports to Principal Air Traffic Control Officer

Location: Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport

Job Purpose

The position exists to assist Air Traffic Control Officers in the provision of safe and
expeditious flow of air traffic.

Duties and responsibilities

• Manages the Flight Data Handling System.
• Prepares flight progress strips.
• Records aircraft and passenger movements for statistics and billing purposes
• Identifies overdue aircraft and assist the air traffic controller during the search
  and rescue operations and other emergencies as necessary.
• Monitors and reports Air Traffic Control equipment status.
• Coordinates and exchanges aircraft movement and control data with other Air
  Traffic Service Units and operators within and outside Zimbabwe
• Broadcasts through the Automatic Terminal Information Service system and
  other channels weather information pertinent for the safe operation of aircraft
  as received from the Meteorological Services Department (MSD).

Qualifications and experience

• 5 O level Passes including Maths and English;
• Possess 2 A level passes in any of the following Maths, Geography, Computers,
  Chemistry, Physics and Biology;
• A Natural Science Degree will be an added advantage
• Must be 18-23 years of age
