LDS is involved in integrated rural development, humanitarian and advocacy work.
Duties And Responsibilities
Job summary
The principal purpose of the position is to coordinate and shape the delivery of the LDS strategy on Sustainable Livelihoods (SL) thematic area; Our SL work is focused on food and income security, skills and entrepreneurial development, as well as environmental management and climate change; This key position provides leadership in determining the strategic direction, setting indicators, action planning, monitoring and evaluation for each of the Sustainable Livelihoods sub-themes; The position works closely with the Executive Director and Programs Coordinator, keeping track of current trends and developments as well as taking responsibility for building knowledge and competencies in the organization around SL; The Thematic Advisor ensures that lessons learnt are documented and good practices (models) developed to inform current and future programming; The position leads the development of funding proposals related to sustainable livelihood area; An in-depth understanding of national, regional and international developmental issues related to sustainable livelihoods and an appreciation of the UN SDGs as well as Zimbabwe’s commitments to the SDGs through national programs is essential; Core competencies should include: The ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically; Excellent interpersonal, communication and representation skills; Highly collaborative; self-starter; Forward-thinking; Adaptable, and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications And Experience
Education experience and skills requirements
Master`s degree in Agriculture, Development Studies or equivalent related Social Sciences; Class 4 Drivers licence is required; At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects; At least 5 years’ experience in management / leading a team is an asset; Experience working in an NGO or similar environment is an asset; Experience coordinating and liaising with stakeholders at district, provincial and national level is an asset.
