Position Overview
Power Systems Africa is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tender Administrator / Cost Estimator to support the preparation of competitive bids and accurate cost estimates for a range of electrical and construction projects. This role is instrumental in ensuring the company submits compliant, cost-effective, and professionally presented tenders that align with client expectations and project requirements.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in estimating, tender document preparation, and project costing, and will be able to collaborate across departments and with external suppliers and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities

Review tender documentation and specifications to prepare detailed and accurate tender responses and cost estimates.

Lead the full estimation process from initial inquiry through to final bid submission.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather the necessary data for pricing.

Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and take-off sheets for proposed projects.

Ensure that all estimates reflect project scope, timelines, budget limitations, and potential risks.

Conduct risk analysis and propose viable cost-mitigation strategies.

Collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to align estimates with technical and commercial expectations.

Maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure access to competitive pricing.

Mentor and support trainee estimators where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Tender Administrator or Estimator in the electrical services, consultancy, or construction industry, ideally with exposure to medium- to large-scale projects.

Strong knowledge of tendering procedures, costing, and construction project estimation methods.

Experience in pricing works, preparing BOQs, and understanding construction drawings and specifications.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimation/tender software.

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is advantageous.

Valid Class 4 driver’s license is a must.
