Childline Zimbabwe is a Private Voluntary Organisation which is registered under the laws of Zimbabwe, specialising in child protection, championing, guarding and protecting their rights through the provision of safe, confidential and child friendly reporting mechanisms centred around a free 24 hour counselling services. It seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to take up the role of Technical Director for an upcoming USAID funded project: Sustaining Care and Support Services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their Caregivers in an HIV Epidemic in Zimbabwe.

General Purpose:
The Technical Director shall be responsible for providing overall technical leadership and managerial oversight of the project implementation, including supervision and coordination of project staff, partners and collaboration with government and other organizations and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery to OVC program.

Duties And Responsibilities

 

  • Strategizing and leading programming efforts to improve comprehensive service delivery to OVC and ensuring program quality and responsiveness to emerging needs.
    • Providing technical leadership and direction to the project in alignment with PEPFAR Technical Guidelines and Zimbabwe’s COP, project objectives, technical standards and best practices, and global evidence.
    • Participating in sound overall management of the project implementation, in coordination with other senior team members and leadership, and to ensure project compliance with donor requirements, policies, and regulations, including for child safeguarding.
    • Providing technical supervision and leadership of program implementation in targeted districts in coordination with consortium partners and key stakeholders.
    • Keeping abreast of research and policy developments to inform program strategy, Developing high-quality technical reports and deliverables for timely submission to USAID.
    • Liaising with the government, NGO and private sector partners and stakeholders in the best interest of the project.

Qualifications And Experience

 

  • A Master’s Degree or higher in international development, public health, business administration, social sciences or any related field.
    • 8+ years’ experience of USAID / PEPFAR or other programming experience for OVC with experience in implementing and managing large-scale projects involving multiple partners, preferably in Zimbabwe.
    • Strong managerial, analytical and interpersonal written and verbal communication skills in English, including for oral presentations.
    • Experience in supervising program staff, managing partners and collaborating with government institutions at all levels, as well as with other community and NGO stakeholders.
    • Experience with OVC, child protection and excellent leadership qualities with an in-depth technical and management expertise.
    • Credibility as a program leader or manager, preferably on USAID-funded projects is a distinct advantage.
    • Clean Class 4 Driver’s licence with at least 2 years driving experience.
