Position Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure within the organization. This role involves ensuring that all IT systems are optimized, secure, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. The Systems Administrator will also provide technical support to users and collaborate with other departments to implement IT solutions effectively.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Apply updates, patches, and security configurations to servers and workstations.
• Manage virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to optimize server performance.
Network Administration
• Maintain, monitor, and secure local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and VPN connections.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Ensure network security through firewalls, access controls, and periodic audits.
• Implement and manage data backup and disaster recovery solutions.
User Support and Training
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to end-users.
• Train users on best practices and new systems as needed.
• Maintain an IT knowledge base and documentation for troubleshooting.
Security Management
• Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Monitor systems for potential threats and respond to security incidents promptly.
• Manage antivirus software and ensure all endpoints are secure.
Project Management
• Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance productivity.
• Document system configurations, changes, and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with the IT Manager to align IT operations with business objectives.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement, support, and maintenance.
• Act as a liaison between the IT department and other business units to ensure effective communication.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Network+, or VMware Certified Professional are highly desirable.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, IP configuration, and DNS management.
• Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Knowledge of database systems like SQL Server and MySQL
