C. SURVEY TECHNICIAN (GRADE 9)

REPORTS TO THE DISTRICT PLANNER

Key Responsibilities

• Data collection and surveying.
• GIS mapping and Analysis
• Data management
• Provision of technical support to council
• Preparation of project reports and presentations
• Engage with stakeholders or clients regarding survey findings
• Conduct quality assessments of GIS outputs and survey results
• Digitizing of layout plans
• Pegging of stands at designated centers
• Preparation of base maps
• Preparation of pegging plans
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Surveying/Geo Informatics and Surveying, or Equivalent.
• Proficiency in GIS software
• Familiarity with GPS, total stations and other surveying tools
• Strong analytical skills to interpret geographic data and statistics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interactions
• At least 27 years old and mature
• 3+ years’ experience in the GIS/surveying environment
• No criminal record
• Class 4/2 drivers license
• Local government experience is an added advantage
