An exciting opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified and self-driven individuals in one of the leading FMCG in Zimbabwe to fill in the position of a Store Buyer. The role entails ensuring 100% availability of the store’s stock through establishing dependable supply sources and purchase products to the store’s exact business requirements, using Group deals where specified, at competitive rates, within budget and ensuring deliveries are made within agreed timelines. The role requires an energetic and proactive individual with solid commercial awareness who takes a holistic perspective in tactical and strategic decision making.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Analyse customer buying patterns, understand seasonal trends, predict future trends and use scientific ordering to ensure zero stock outs on shelf.
• Sends out enquiries for appropriate products, collate and analyse quotations, place order with suitable suppliers for specified products, ensuring goods are delivered on the required date and purchased at the most competitive rates and within budget.
• Account for all stocks in the store – including raw material delivered, and stocks in the store warehouse/ storage facility.
• Formulate strategies that ensures that stock losses are minimized and managed properly.
• Regularly engage with customers and obtain feedback & customer expectations on the product range, product mix and quality.
• Conduct regular market analysis, understanding competitor activity in terms of product range/mix, product pricing quality, customer demographics and consumer buyer behaviour.
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels and stock integrity is maintained throughout the store at all times.
• Supervising and training junior members of staff when required.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal person must possess the following:
• Degree/Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Management.
• At least three years’ experience in FMCG industry.
• Experience in working with Senior Managers and Executives providing professional, accurate and strategic advice.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and conducting statistical analysis
