B D Stodart Construction is a specialised civil and earthworks contractor delivering major infrastructure, drainage, roadworks and bulk earthmoving projects across Zimbabwe. We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to take full operational control of site activities and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards, reporting directly to the Projects Manager. This is a senior, site-based, hands-on role suited to a strong leader who thrives in a high-performance construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction planning and daily site operations.
- Programme delivery, quality control and productivity.
- Health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Cost awareness, measurements and reporting.
- Risk identification and mitigation.
- Implementation of BDS systems, procedures and performance standards.
- Accurate site administration, document control and reporting.
- Preparation of method statements and risk assessments.
- Forecasting of plant, labour and resource requirements.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management.
- 5-7 years’ experience managing civil construction or earthworks projects.
- Proven background in roads, drainage, bulk earthworks or infrastructure works.
- Strong understanding of site-based construction management principles.
- Solid knowledge of safety systems, risk assessments and method statements.
- Experience managing subcontractors, supervisors, operators and labour teams.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and programmes.
- Commercial awareness including measurements, progress claims and variations.
- Strong administrative and reporting ability.
- Proficient in MS Office, CCS and site reporting tools.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Experience working within Zimbabwean construction environments will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of construction sequencing and production planning.
- Ability to manage plant-intensive operations efficiently.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and specifications.
- Strong quality management and inspection processes.
- Confident compiling progress reports, forecasts and site records.
- Ability to manage project risk and maintain programme momentum.
- Capable of coordinating multiple subcontractors and suppliers simultaneously.
- Decisive and disciplined site leader.
- Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving ability.
- Highly organised and detail-driven.
- Excellent communicator.
