Duties and Responsibilities
• Identifies and raises awareness of safety and environment issues for the project.
• Ensures compliance to the HSE Construction Guideline for the project
• Ensures production and maintenance of Environment health and safety programmes
• Conducts seminars and awareness campaigns on health and safety issues
• Ensures that health and safety meetings are held as per statutory requirements
• Ensures that the Authority’s HIV/AIDS policy is implemented
• Offers periodic feedback to management on Environment, health and safety matters.
• Carries out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Environment, health and safety legislation and taking action to improve conditions;
• Initiates and oversees investigations on complaints from the general public.
• Initiates and oversees investigations of accidents at work and complaints about poor standards of health and safety, as well as identifying areas of negligence;
• Investigates outbreaks of infectious diseases and prevent the spreading
• Advises on planning and licensing applications;
• Monitors levels of noise, air, land and water pollution;
• Advises on Environment, health and safety issues in relation to new buildings and developments
