Key Responsibilities

  • Process Library materials (Accession, Catalogue using Resource Description and Access (RDA), classify and spine-mark).
  • Prepare booklist and compile batch processing records using the Library Management System for dispatch to LSU Libraries.
  • Manage circulation services by charging and discharging library resources through the Library Management System.
  • Provide reference and information services to support users in locating and using library resources effectively.
  • Shelving books and conduct regular shelf reading to maintain proper arrangement and ensure efficient retrieval of materials.
  • Safeguard library resources by monitoring patrons within the library facilities.
  • Participate in stock-taking and other collection management exercises.
  • Perform day, weekend, and night circulation duties as scheduled.
  • Undertake any other related duties and may be redeployed to any Library section or University campus as and when required.

Requirements

  • A National Diploma in Library and Information Science.
  • Five (5) Ordinary level passes including English Language and Mathematics.
  • At least two (2) years of working experience at Library Assistant level or three (3) years Technical Assistant level in an academic library.
