Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 8 years engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environments and/or experience in design of manufacturing or boiler.
• Experience in power generation projects.
• Professional Engineering MEMBERSHIP ZIE and ECZ.
• Project Management Professional certification (PRINCE2/PMP)
• Familiar with the EPC FIDIC contracts
• Strong technical, problem solving, decision-making, project management, and computer skills
• Familiar with Integrated Management System (IMS)
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and work in a team environment
• Knowledge of power plant operations
• Experience in powerhouse equipment (design/ testing/ commissioning) including turbines, governing systems, etc.
Key Responsibilities
• Works with the Project Site Manager and multi-discipline group of engineers and technicians providing technical services to the project including, design work, site work and project management activities.
• Plans studies, detailed analyses and designs, and construction services related to thermal-mechanical equipment associated with thermal power plants
• Prepares of construction plans and specifications including monitoring the scope of works within Employer’s Requirements
• Performs risk assessment, ranking and life cycle costing of mechanical equipment replacement, repair and rehabilitation
• Reviews of technical specifications, design proposals, datasheets for the contractor and its sub-supplier mechanical systems, equipment and/or services at enquiry and contract stages of projects.
• Provides technical support and resolves technical issues during erection and commissioning stages of projects including administration of design change implementation and control Knowledgeable of plant systems; Implements and manages SHERQ activities in line with the IMS system, including carrying HIRAs
• Reviews progress reports with various departments and modifies the schedules or plans as required.
• Coordinates the quality process that include vendor quality surveillance, inspections, testing, non-conformance reporting
