VACANCY:
Our client in the Professional Regulatory Compliance Sector seeks to recruit a Secretary to the Board. The role offers a ten-year fixed-term contract and is based at the organization’s offices in Harare. The client’s Board is responsible for the Secretary’s selection and appointment process. The Secretary will report directly to the Board in this capacity.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
The Secretary position is responsible for:
⦁ Promoting the independence and integrity of the accountancy profession.
⦁ Protecting the public in their dealings with professional accountants and auditors.
⦁ Prescribing auditing, accounting and ethical standards.
⦁ Prescribing standards of professional competence and conduct of professional accountants and auditors.
⦁ Encouraging education and research into any matter affecting the accountancy profession.
⦁ Driving the Organization’s statutory mandate and external strategy, implementing Board strategies and identifying emerging issues in the accountancy profession.
⦁ Leading organizational operations, making key decisions, managing internal resources efficiently, and acting as the main link between the Board and operations.
⦁ Representing the Organization publicly and ensuring high performance standards.
⦁ Providing strong support and leadership to the secretariat, fostering a cohesive team environment.
⦁ Managing the organization’s budget and reporting financial matters to the Board including mobilization of funds.
⦁ Develop deep knowledge of the accountancy profession, including auditing, accounting, ethical standards, and emerging industry trends and technologies.
⦁ Engaging with key stakeholders locally and internationally, including professional bodies, regulators, government, parliament, investors and international partners
⦁ Serve as the primary spokesperson, promote understanding of the Organization’s objectives, and build positive relationships,
especially with the Ministry of Finance & Investment Promotion.
⦁ Establish statutory committees and facilitate the nominations process.
⦁ Providing administrative services to the Board and management of board governance duties
QUALIFICATIONS
⦁ Hold an appropriate professional qualification and relevant postgraduate Master’s degree
⦁ Possess a minimum of ten years of relevant Senior Executive level experience, with strong financial knowledge and skills.
⦁ Preferably have completed an Executive Program in Management.
⦁ Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of public interest and the necessity for independence.
