One of our clients in Engineering, Iron and Steel sector is looking for a Scrap Cutter to join their team. The incumbent will be based in Kadoma.
Duties And Responsibilities
1) Dismantles metal assemblies, like automobiles, machines, building girders, and pipelines, or cuts scrap metal to size for shipping, using thermal-cutting equipment, like flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
2) Connects hoses from hand torch to cylinders of oxygen fuel gas, or turns knobs to adjust settings of arc-cutting equipment.
3) Turns handle to open gas valve to specified pressure.
4) Lights torch and adjusts flow of oxygen to obtain desired mixture, as indicated by color size of flame.
5) Directs flame on workpiece to heat it to oxidizing temperature, as indicated by color of metal.
6) Squeezes lever or trigger to release additional jet of oxygen which cuts path through metal.
7) Guides flame or arc across workpiece observes cutting action to judge speed of movement.
May change cutting tips or adjust gas pressure or arc- equipment to cut metal of different types thickness.
9) May climb ladders or work on scaffolds to disassemble structures.
Qualifications And Experience
-Relevant Degree/ Diploma.
-At least two years experience.
