The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of sawing machines in a production environment. The successful candidate will be able to set up and operate saws to cut and shape a variety of materials to customer specifications. They will be required to read and interpret technical drawings, select the correct blades, and adjust the machine settings to ensure accurate and safe operation. Attention to detail and an excellent safety record are essential for this role.

Saw Operator Duties

• Set up and operate a variety of saws to cut metal and other materials
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to specifications
• File, grind and smooth rough edges and surfaces
• Read technical drawings and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions
• Maintain saws, checking and replacing worn blades, drive belts and other parts
• Keep records of daily production
• Examine finished work pieces for defects
