Namib Minerals / Bulawayo Mining Company (Private) Limited is seeking to appoint a Safety Officer. The primary purpose of the role is to promote and enforce safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) standards by carrying out risk assessments, incident investigations, audits (ISO 45001/14001/9001), environmental and hygiene monitoring, emergency drills, training and SHEQ reporting; support ESG initiatives and stakeholder engagement, to ensure a safe, healthy, environmentally responsible and legally compliant mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce SHEQ standards.
- Carry out risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Conduct audits (ISO 45001/14001/9001).
- Perform environmental and hygiene monitoring.
- Conduct emergency drills and training.
- SHEQ reporting.
- Support ESG initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements
- A Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent relevant qualification (or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates competency to perform required duties)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mining SHEQ role
- Full Blasting Licence (a distinct advantage)
- Internal auditor training in ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Strong communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound safety recommendations
