RISK OFFICER
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Risk Officer to lead and manage the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks across our organization. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining our enterprise-wide risk management (ERM) framework and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management and compliance, along with deep insight into industry best practices and regulatory trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and implementing risk management policies and protocols in line with the company’s business strategy

Identifying potential risks that might affect the company’s reputation, safety, security, and financial prosperity

Analysing risk-related issues and providing reports to top executives and board members
-
Overseeing and managing the team of risk management professionals
-
Coordinating with other departments to identify and manage company-wide risks
-
Leading the development of contingency plans and disaster recovery strategies
-
Ensuring compliance with risk-related regulatory requirements

Providing training and awareness programs to educate employees about risk management
-
Regularly evaluating the effectiveness of risk management processes and making necessary improvements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Risk & Insurance, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent qualification).

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a risk management function.
-
Solid exposure to credit risk in sectors such as banking, microfinance, trade finance, transaction management, or other related financial services.

Proven ability to provide leadership and apply strategic thinking in risk-related matters.

Demonstrated success in engaging stakeholders across various levels of the organization.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

High ethical standards and a strong sense of professional integrity.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risk scenarios.

Adaptable and resilient in high-pressure and dynamic environments.
