JOB DESCRIPTION
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following posts that have arisen within the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA).
Former ZIMRA employees are encouraged to apply.
REVENUE OFFICER (Level 11):
- TAXES (50 Posts).
- CUSTOMS AND EXCISE (50 Posts)
Responsibilities:
- Calculation and collection of taxes, customs and excise duties.
- Carrying out tax audits and post clearance audits.
- Carrying out physical examinations and inspections of goods.
- Valuation of motor vehicles and goods.
- State warehouse keeping and preparing rummage sale schedules.
- Carrying out border patrols, roadblocks and post clearance checks.
- Following up on clients under liquidation, judicial management and insolvency cases.
- Following up on rebates, Temporary Import Permits, Report Orders, Application for Temporary Importation Privileges, Temporary import Permits for Aircraft, and other outstanding clearances.
- Correct application of taxes and customs and excise legislation.
- Efficient management of ports of entry and exit.
- Issuance of directives, tax clearance and customs clearance certificates.
- Maintaining taxpayer accounts in SAP and recovering outstanding tax debts.
- Negotiating penalties and terms of payment for outstanding tax debts . Verifying value, tariff, description, exchange rate and origin of imported goods.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate in Customs and Taxation Laws & Procedures – a must.
- Degree in Fiscal Studies/Accounting/Business Studies/Business Management/BCom Finance, Economics / Sociology/CIS/ACCA/CIMA.
- Application letter should state where the applicant has worked before, including details of the employers and the positions the applicant held throughout their employment.
- Knowledge of ASYCUDA or SAP system is a distinct advantage.

- In-depth knowledge in the following:
- Customs and Excise legislation and post clearance audits.
- Ports of entry and exit management.
- Tax legislation and audits.
- Self-starter with ability to work under pressure.
- Unquestionable integrity.
- A good team player.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have left ZIMRA not less than two years ago
