Summary
The Consumer Protection Commission was established under the Consumer Protection Act Chapter 14:44 (No. 5 of 2019) which became Law on 10 December 2019. This Act repealed the Consumer Contract Act Chapter 8:03 and is administered by the Minister for Industry and Commerce. The Consumer Protection commission’s core function is to “protect consumers horn unconscionable, unreasonable, unjust or otherwise improper trade practices, as well as deceptive, misleading, unfair or fraudulent conduct.”
The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) is now inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the above-mentioned positions that have risen in the Commission.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collect and receipt fines of businesses that have been found to infringe consumer rights
- Collect and receipt levies from Consumer Protection Organisation, Consumer Advocacy Groups, Consumer Protection Officers, and other stakeholders who in terms of the regulations have to pay levies to the commission.
- Counts and verifies cash and receipts and submitting the verified amount at the end of each transaction day as is stated on the cash up summary report.

- Compiles statistical information on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis as informed by all fines and levies paid
- Submits daily activity report to supervisor
- Maintain log Of problems and incidents encountered during shift
Qualifications And Experience
- Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Administration or equivalent.
- At least 1 year experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft excel word and power point.
- Outstanding ICT skills
