JOB DESCRIPTION
A Research Assistant works under a supervisor to carry out language consultancy and research for a particular language or portfolio in the Institute.
Apart from research and consultancy, a Research Assistant is actively involved in the designing of innovative research proposals for submission to granting agencies to secure funds for the Institute.
Duties And Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out language research;
Engages in language consultancy work in his/her portfolio;
Recruits clients for tutorials and other language services in his/her area of specialisation;
Supervises undergraduate research;
Attends project, Institute or University committee meetings; and
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Research Fellow in the respective portfolio or the Executive Director of the Institute.
Qualifications And Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate must be a holder of a first degree in African Languages majoring in one of the languages indicated above;
Alternatively, the candidate must be a holder of a first degree in African Languages and should be a first language speaker of any one of the languages above; and
A relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
