REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE – santemedical 12 views

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered General Nurse (RGN) to provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering nursing care, administering treatments and medications, monitoring patient progress, and working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes and adherence to professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with professional standards and clinical protocols.
  • Assess, triage, and monitor patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications, injections, intravenous therapy, and other treatments safely and accurately.
  • Assist medical practitioners with consultations, examinations, minor surgical procedures, and medical emergencies.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency nursing care, including basic and advanced life support where applicable.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication use, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, referrals, transfers, and discharge processes where required.
  • Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of patient care in the 24-hour service.
  • Maintain inventory of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment, and report shortages promptly.
  • Adhere to all statutory, ethical, and professional nursing standards, including those of the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.
  • Perform any other nursing duties assigned by the Medical Officer or Clinic Manager

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in General Nursing from a recognised institution.
  • Registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and in possession of a valid practising certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification nursing experience, preferably in a private medical centre, hospital, emergency, or outpatient setting.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound clinical decisions, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, in a 24-hour medical centre.
  • Computer literacy and experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an added advantage.
