Post N: Refrigeration and Air Condition Technician (Gweru Campus)

Job Objective:

To provide skilled work in the installation, repair, operation and maintenance of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration equipment and systems.
Ensure on a daily basis that all equipment and systems are operational and room temperatures are adequate.
Qualifications and Experience

Artisan Class 1 Refridgeration and Air Condition Mechanic
At least 2 years experience as a Refridgeration and Air Condition Mechanic
Experience in a tertiary institution would be an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

Carries out preventative maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.
Repairs faulty air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and plant.
Ensures the timely tuning on/off of the air conditioning systems during events.
On a daily basis closely monitors the cooling levels in each conference room to ensure that cooling levels are adequate to avoid negative impact to clients’ events.
Ensures routine checks and servicing are carried out on the air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and completes the requisite status logs.
Troubleshoots air conditioning/refrigeration equipment malfunctions, diagnises problems and performs maintenance on equipment. Completes logs detailing works carried out inclusive of parts utilized.
Makes recommendations to replace equipment, if expected cost to repair exceeds possible replacement cost.
Performs regular cleaning of all air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, inclusive of vents.
Manages the safety of the air conditioning plant rooms and associated areas.
Responsible for developing and creating ways to better monitor the cooling level of each room, to ensure that all room cooling is maintained at the specific level required.
Routinely checks offices to ensure that all the air condition vents and return vents are clean, well maintained and functioning satisfactory.
Raises requisition for materials required for the smooth operation of the refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and ensures adequate materials are ordered.
Responsible for the verification of refrigeration and air conditioning spares purchased/supplied.
Creates and maintains an ongoing inventory showing the number of air conditioning units and refrigeration equipment and their location.
On an ongoing basis, remains up to date on all new cooling products available in the market place, which the University can financially benefit from using.
As required provide relief support to the other positions in the company in cases of absence or work overload.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
