Key Responsibilities
- Monitors the implementation of quality assurance policy, procedures, standards and specifications by depots in the region.
- Conducts adhoc/ routine inspections on grain quality at depots to ensure compliance to requirements and that grain quality is maintained.
- Determines and recommends preventive and corrective actions to be implemented to ensure the quality of grain is maintained.
- Monitors implementation of the preventive and corrective actions.
- Conducts and supervise laboratory analysis of grains.
- Assesses the quality of grain storage materials received from different suppliers.
- Monitors compliance of depots to fortnightly grain inspections through OP/PC68 and ’92 documents.
- Plans and monitors Pest Control activities for depots/ external clients are being carried out according to plan and in line with the procedure.
- Distributes intake and storage resources according to depots handling plan.
- Monitors usage and condition of storage resources through routine depot inspection.
- Conducts research and providing advice on ways to improve on grain quality management.
- Conducts quality management training programs for internal personnel and external clients.
- Attends to queries/ complaints raised by customers with reference to product quality and ensure they are resolved.
- Monitors implementation of the grain grading system.
- Oversees the calibration and servicing of grading equipment.
- Provides technical backup on all quality assurance equipment acquired by the organisation.
- Enforces safety and health procedures for the pest control team.
- Performing any other work-related duties as assigned by the Superior.
Requirements
- Degree in Biological Sciences/Food Science/Chemistry/ Postharvest Technology/Agriculture or equivalent.
- 5 ‘O’ levels including English Language, Mathematics and Science.
- A relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
- Master’s in Post-Harvest Technology will be an added advantage.
- At least 2 years’ experience.
