The Adult Rape Clinic (ARC) is a Registered Non-Governmental Organization working to deliver medico-legal and psychosocial services to survivors of sexual gender -based violence and promotes awareness on prevention of sexual violence in Zimbabwe.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Psychologist based in Harare in Zimbabwe. Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor, the Psychologist Intern will provide psychotherapy, facilitate group therapy, establish survivor support groups, and provide follow-up therapy to SGBV survivors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provision of individual and group psycho-therapy to survivors and their care-givers; Performing psychosomatic self-care techniques to survivors, care-givers and ARC staff; Performing psychological assessments and evaluations; Providing team consultation and psycho-education to Nurse-Counsellors and multi-sectoral stakeholders; Offering somatic therapy and trauma-releasing activities; History Intake and Records Keeping; Reporting monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports to the Clinic Supervisor and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers; Attending staff, Departmental and other meetings; Attending workshops and facilitating sessions to share psychological knowledge.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
BSc Psychology
Additional Academic and professional qualifications that may be an added advantage for this job
MSc Psychology; Training in SGBV management, care and support (5-day theoretical training with two weeks of practical training at a recognized SGBV Clinic).
Knowledge and Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of providing psychotherapy to sexual assault survivors; training and experience in Somatic Psychotherapy.
Other Requirements
Exceptional report writing and communication skills; High level of personal integrity; Strong work ethic; Ability to respect survivor confidentiality.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is essential; Ability to communicate in local languages; Ability to communicate in sign language is an added advantage
Proficiency in the use of computers for
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint
Working Conditions
This is a contract position whose extension is dependent on the availability of funding.
