Key Responsibilities
- Identify key and topical human rights issues, develop and update monitoring tools, draft concept notes and activity costings, conduct monitoring missions, prepare monitoring reports, and update recommendations and implementation trackers.
- Develop monitoring tools for detention facilities, conduct interviews and collect data through observation, and draft reports benchmarked against international and regional standards.
- Examine the Government Gazette to identify bills for monitoring and draft analytical reports.
- Share reports with stakeholders, plan and convene meetings, update trackers on implementation of recommendations, and prepare engagement meeting reports.
- Prepare concept notes, stakeholder invitations, meeting minutes and implement activities.
- Identify Concluding Observations and Recommendations from State Party Reports, participate in drafting State Party reports, draft Alternative Reports and organise validation meetings.
- Delegate work, provide feedback, conduct and review performance appraisals, provide technical expertise and guidance on investigations, mentor subordinates and enforce adherence to policies.
Requirements
- Degree in Law, Social Work, Development Studies or equivalent from a recognised institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar environment.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good research skills.
- Relevant language proficiency required in the province.
