Homestake Mine (A member of Kuvimba Mining House) is seeking a Project Manager (Note: The “About the Job” section mentions an “experienced Geologist”). The position reports to the General Manager-Projects and is based at Homestake Mine in Kwekwe.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activities of the project, ensuring all milestones are met according to the project plan.
- Track daily and monthly gold production, ore movement, and processing metrics; validate reported figures and raise concerns promptly.
- Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Oversee safety performance on site, ensuring the tribute operator adheres to company and statutory HSE policies.
- Provide independent assessments and risk alerts to the General Manager – Projects regarding deviations from schedule, and costs.
- Coordinate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all team members.
- Compile and submit detailed progress and performance reports to the General Manager – Projects, highlighting opportunities, risks, and compliance issues. Maintain accurate project documents including reports, records and other relevant materials.
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to the project team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Oversee the management of team performance and ensure consistent application of workplace discipline in accordance with company policies and best practices.
- Foster good working relationships with local communities and traditional leaders in line with the company’s community engagement commitments.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 years experience in the mining industry of which four should be at managerial level.
- Post graduate certificate in Project Management an added advantage.
