A vacancy has arisen for a Project Civil Engineer to be engaged for an initial 6months Project based Fixed Term Contract subject to further extension as per the availability of similar projects.
The selected candidate shall be engaged in projects for the Development of Residential Stands (from project commencement to completion), Concrete Works for a Substation (concrete plinths and brickwork) and the Construction of Office Buildings in Bulawayo.
The selected candidate shall be engaged for the supervision of civil works and the overall project management.
Duties And Responsibilities
-Develop a Project Brief, Project Plan and full scope of work based on the approved Designs
-Develop a detailed Project Works Breakdown including a detailed Program of Works for the project
-Establish the project team structure and monitor compliance to roles
-Supervise the project team on site including civil engineers, skilled and unskilled personnel and subcontractors
-Accurately report and monitor progress on the site for internal use and for external project stakeholders such as the Client
-Monitor project resources against the project budget and initiate the necessary corrective actions
-Lead and oversee all civil works and the overall project progress
-Coordinate the communication and approval of design changes with the Client and Design Team
-Coordinate with the Client and other authorities for compliance with Project standards and local laws
-Manage pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all project works including pre-commissioning checks, correction of defects, etc
-Compile and coordinate all project handover drawings including As Built Drawings
-Any other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications And Experience
-Diploma/ Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable Polytechnic or University
-At least 8years total experience as a Civil Engineer
-At least 5years post qualification experience in a project management role
-Experience in the land development sector will be an added advantage
-Professional qualification in Project Management
-Registration with Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers
-A clean class 4 driver’s license and own vehicle will be an added advantage
-Good interpersonal skills for interaction with the Client, Project Consultant and the Project Team
-Excellent oral and written communication skills in technical and administrative roles
