JOB TITLE: ​​​PROGRAMS MANAGER

The Organisation is looking for a dynamic Programs Manager who can provide leadership, and management in integrated programs. S/he will have overall responsibility for coordinating all Grantor Programs and the Organization’s activities. S/he will also be responsible for serving as the key liaison with other grantors, government departments in the district, other implementing partners and stakeholders.
The incumbent will Report to the Organization’s Board of Directors.

 

Duties And Responsibilities

The Program Manager (the Manager) will be responsible for :

• Implementing Grantors’ Programs through the Organisation, as agreed in the Agency agreement between the Grantor and the Organisation

• Managing the teams that coordinate the Grantor’s Programs
• Monitoring the Programs’ teams operations for quality, efficiency and effectiveness
• Utilizing a Client Relationship Management system or other applicable system to organize information, and facilitate outreach activities and communications, perform forecasts and measure the performance of the Grantor’s Programs
• Collaborating with various partners to ensure that special or important events are publicize the Organization and its programs
• Managing subordinate staff for both the Grantor and the Organisation in their day to day running
• Assisting in identifying and carrying out selection processes for support staff for the Grantor’s Programs as guided by the Grantor’s Director and for the Organization in consultation with the Organization’s Board of Directors
• Ensuring gender mainstreaming in all aspects of the programs and project implementation
• Exercising delegated authority for the personnel actions
• Ensuring that the Grantor’s Programs or the Organizations’ milestones or goals are met and adhere to budgets
• Ensuring that funds availed under the Grantor Programs are utilized in accordance with the Agency agreement between the Grantor and the Organisation and in accordance with the Organizational systems and policies
• Developing strategic plans for the Organization’s own programs and activities
• Designing activities that support the Organization’s mission vision and goals
• Preparing Programs implementation Reports and any such reports as are required by the Grantor
• Networking with various stakeholders such as Government Departments, funders, Local Authorities, UN Clusters, International and Local NGOs on behalf of the Organisation
• In consultation with the Organization’s Board, developing and designing projects that ensure the viability of the Organisation
• Updating the Organization’s Board on the implementation of Grantor’s Programs and drawing attention to any challenges impacting implementation.
• Presenting Management Reports to the Board on Organization’s activities
• Coordinating activities of sub-offices and provide technical oversight to all sub-offices
• Assisting the Organisation in developing grant applications or proposals for fundraising initiatives
• Implementing fundraising and development strategy to identify potential donors or other fundraising activities for the Organisation and carries out outreach activities
• Developing or amending, in consultation with the Organization’s Board the Organization’s policies and procedures
• Coordinating the Organization’s general and other Board and Committee meetings
• Representing the Organisation at various child protection forums or other stakeholders meetings
• Advocating for the improvement or change of practices and policies that are a hindrance to the effectiveness of implementing child protection services
• Carrying out performance reviews for subordinate staff

Qualifications And Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or development studies or equivalent qualification.
• A Master’s degree in the relevant area will be an added advantage
• Not less than five years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position in a non-governmental organisation or relevant area
Competencies
• Demonstrated leadership skills in managing donor-funded programs within non-governmental and not for profit organizations is essential.
• Strong team management experience is essential
• Demonstrated leadership in fostering successful partnership approaches and relationships among a variety of local organizations/institutions including government, private sector, local NGOs, and community-based organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with local level government officials, donors, and other local implementing organizations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and People management skills
