Programme Officer

A local NGO based in Harare seeks to recruit a Programme Officer for its Education Programme. Reporting to the Programmes Manager and the Executive Director.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for

Facilitating engagement with relevant stakeholders in the education sector;
Research on developments in inclusive education and facilitate the dissemination of findings to respective audiences;
Resource mobilisation through concept and proposal development;
Implementation, monitoring and reporting on project activities relating to the Education Programme;
Supporting the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy, work plan and budget;
Advocating for the right to education for children with disabilities through forging relations with partners, civil society organizations, government and international cooperating partners;
Facilitating psycho-social support initiatives for parents of children with disabilities and young people with disabilities;
Any other duties assigned.

Required qualifications and essential skill

An Honours degree in social science or any other related field;
Solid background in psycho-social support and social protection;
At least 3 years work experience in working with NGOs, Child Protection and vulnerable communities;
Knowledge of issues affecting children with disabilities;
Ability to communicate at all levels (both written and spoken);
Project implementation skills;
Good facilitation, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others without formal authority;
Ability to effectively organise work and meet deadlines
