FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS Post E: Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (1 Post)

We are seeking a passionate academic with a strong technical background to teach and conduct research across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, and supervising research projects within the rapidly evolving fields of telecommunications and applied physics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to teach any three of the following areas: Mobile and Wireless Communications, Satellite Communications, Radio Access Networks, RF Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation; covering both theory, laboratory work, and student research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Ability to interact with industry and academic partners (domestic and international) and interest in creating and maintaining connections with major industrial and academic players within the broader communications community.
  • Participate in research, innovation, industrialization, and community engagement activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching and curriculum development at the university level.
  • Ability to secure research grants
  • Participate in experimental setups for practical instruction and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Chairperson.

Requirements

  • Must have an Honours degree in BSc Telecommunications / Physics / Electronic Engineering/ Instrumentation or an equivalent in the relevant field with at least a 2.1 pass.
  • Must have a Master’s Degree in Communications Engineering / Telecommunications / Electronic Engineering or an equivalent in the relevant field.
  • A PhD or proof of progress towards a PhD in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or an equivalent in the relevant field is an added advantage.
  • University teaching experience is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of advanced RF simulation packages, which include Keysight ADS, FEKO, and Python.
  • Registration with a recognized professional engineering body is an added advantage.
