Context
The Council of Social Workers (CSW),established in terms of the Social Workers Act(Chap 27:21), the Social Work Regulatory body in Zimbabwe has an opening for a dynamic and committed professional who wants to make a contribution to Social Work professional development in Zimbabwe. We are looking for a highly motivated individual committed to planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, directing, and supporting countrywide systems of professional development and innovation and engaging with partners to address a variety of organizational and pedagogical needs aimed at improving social workers and stakeholders practise and supervision skills.
Skills and qualifications
An honours Degree in Social Work is a must; At least 3 years of experience working a in a professional and regulated environment; Registered with CSW or a similarly recognised regulatory authority; Fluency in English, Shona and Ndebele as a prerequisite with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent IT skills particularly in MS Word, Excel & Access (Epi-info or SSPS desirable); Experience developing capacity building programs for workforce strengthening Ability to travel regularly to social work provinces (a class four driver’s license a must).
Personal qualities
CSW is looking for a highly motivated individual who has an understanding of Social Work regulation and has in depth knowledge of the Social Workers Act of 2001. The individual must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Main Duties
The Volunteer Programs Officer shall work closely with the Registrar and various committees of the Board. His/her main duties will sometimes require work on weekends, for which time off in lieu can be taken. These will include: Development of a clear vision for the Innovation Department to work collaboratively, creatively, and productively to improve identified competence gaps; Provide direction and oversight on capacity building and development efforts of the Council to its stakeholders and practitioners; Research emerging and innovative practices and programs, within and outside the social work educational arena, to improve student and social worker supervision; Develop and implements strategies to align curriculum, and professional development to support emerging learning environments; Participate in local, national, and global learning communities that stimulate innovation, creativity, and digital age collaboration; Engage educators, employers, social workers in dialogues that inform future collaborative initiatives; Supervise and evaluates the performance of social workers in various spectrums of social practise in order to identify imminent shills gaps ad redress them accordingly; Arrange for appropriate training and development of CSW staff and all its membership; Make presentations to social work and related associations, community groups, etc on capacity building and workforce strengthening; Other duties as required.
