PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST – PETROLEUM TRADING

 

 

We seek to engage a professional with in-depth knowledge and expertise in various aspects of international trade and commerce for the role of Procurement Specialist. This individual typically possesses a robust understanding of global market trends, import and export, domestic, wholesale, retail, entrepôt and foreign trade. Reporting administratively to the Head of PMU, with a close liaison and advisory role on trades to management, especially marketing, operations and finance.

 

 

Key Job Functions

 

 

  • Manage trade operations and ensure timely execution of transactions. Identify strategic sourcing and competitive supply opportunities aligned with market trends and pricing structures.

  • Monitor and reconcile trade activity to ensure accuracy and completeness. Forecast and monitor market fluctuations, analyzing regional and global supply and demand dynamics, price movements, and logistics flows to support strategic procurement decisions, using data analysis tool and identify trading opportunities. In addition, contribute to market intelligence gathering through active engagement with market participants.

  • Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers, refiners, transporters, and other counterparties. Collaborate with departments, especially operations, commercial and retail marketing, depots, VFM and finance for seamless service and value delivery

  • Ensure all trades comply with relevant regulations and internal policies and use risk management and VFM techniques to minimize losses.

  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and internal departments to manage stakeholder, resolve issues and provide market updates.

  • Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management on trade performance and progress. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

 

 

Requirements of the Job

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain Management or Procurement.

  • A certification in Supply Chain Management such as ZIPS, CPP, CIPS would be an added advantage.

  • At least 5 years’ experience of trade compliance and customs regulations

  • Data analytical and financial analysis certification is a must.

  • Strong understanding of petroleum markets and a capacity for quick, accurate decision-making.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • High degree of attention to detail, excellent communication and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisive judgments.

  • High integrity, professionalism, adaptability, strong analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Proactive, commercially minded problem-solving with strong teamwork orientation.

  • Knowledge of procurement law, contract administration, and compliance regulations.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
