First Capital Bank Zimbabwe is looking for a highly experienced Procurement Officer to join the Procurement, Assets and Administration team, reporting directly to the Senior Procurement, Assets & Administration Manager. The ideal candidate is responsible to drive high value sourcing initiatives, manages the bank’s most strategic suppliers, and ensures full compliance with procurement policies and regulatory standards. The role plays a critical part in cost optimisation, strategic sourcing, supplier risk mitigation, and sustaining uninterrupted business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safeguards the bank’s operational, financial, and reputational interests by executing rigorous due diligence, negotiating value driven contracts, maintaining supplier performance standards, and strengthening third party risk management.
- Deliver measurable cost savings through strategic sourcing, competitive bidding, and negotiation excellence.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure the best supply sources to support business needs and operational continuity.
- Analyse the banks’ wide consumption trends to optimise demand planning and reduce wastage.
- Conduct market and vendor research to ensure access to high quality supplies at competitive prices.
- Develop and negotiate contracts aligned with service quality, risk management, and cost efficiency objectives.
- Implement long term procurement and category strategies that enhance value, strengthen supplier partnerships, and support the bank’s strategic goals.
- Ensure timely processing of requisitions, RFQs, tenders, and purchase orders.
- Maintain agreed procurement turnaround times.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of goods and services to the business.
- Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers.
- Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
- Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date contract repository.
- Lead drafting of commercial terms in collaboration with Legal.
- Ensure contracts clearly define scope, deliverables, SLAs, KPIs, penalties, pricing structures, and termination clauses.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies and procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails.
- Reduce maverick spending and policy deviations.
- Support audit processes and close audit findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management/ Procurement / Purchasing/ Business Administration/ Finance or Accounting/ Economics.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or specialist role.
- Professional certification (e.g. CIPS, PRINCE2, PMP).
- Leading strategic sourcing initiatives and competitive bidding processes.
- Managing high-value supplier contracts and strategic vendor relationships.
- Implementing procurement governance, compliance, and risk controls.
- Conducting market analysis, supplier due diligence, and cost-benefit evaluations.
- Driving cost-saving initiatives and procurement efficiency improvements.
