VACANCY: PRINCIPAL WATER ENGINEER: GRADE 12
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, honest, self-motivated, and task-oriented individuals to fill the above position that has arisen within the Engineering and Technical Services Department. The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Director of Engineering (Water and Wastewater)

THE PERSON SPECIFICATION

⦁ Honours Degree in Civil Engineering. Civil & Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering/Sanitary Engineering or equivalent.
⦁ Registered with theEngineeringCouncilofZimbabwe(ECZ)
⦁ At least five( 5) years of experience in the field of water engineering.
⦁ Previous urban local authority experience is an added advantage.
⦁ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
⦁ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
⦁ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
⦁ Computer literacy is a must.
⦁ Clean class 4 driver’s license.

SOME KEY RESULT AREAS

(The overall function is ensuring that the City has access to clean, safe and sustainable water.)
⦁ Management of water supply systems (abstraction to distribution)
⦁ Planning and designing of supply systems.
⦁ Development and implementation of water quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
⦁ Develop and implement strategies to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) and assist in improving revenue collection.
⦁ Project management
⦁ Conducting research to identify new technologies and good practices
⦁ Development of emergency response plans.
⦁ Collaboration with stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community members.
⦁ Development and implementation of training programmes for divisional staff.
⦁ Preparation of divisional reports
⦁ Divisional budget formulation
⦁ Stock control and management.
⦁ General staff administration and supervision.
⦁ Any other duties within reason as assigned by the superiors.
