Job Summary
Mining Skills Development College is registered under the Zimbabwe Companies Act and also with the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education Act with a broad objective, among other functions of training and producing knowledgeable and skilled human capital for the mining industry, focusing on priority programs for the strategic sectors that have great impact to the national economic growth.
MSDC invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the above mentioned vacant executive position that has arisen within the equal opportunity organisation.
Reporting to the MSDC Board Chairman, the Principal Director is responsible for implementing the strategic direction of MSDC through the provision of effective leadership in all facets of the organisation.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Developing sound strategies (in line with) the mandate of MSDC, cognizant of the evolving technologies and objectives.
- Leading the implementation of MSDC strategic plan including technical and administrative policies as guided by the MSDC Board.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of training programmes in line with the mining disciplines that are responsive to the socio-economic development needs of Zimbabwe.
- Promoting the organisation’s training programmes.
- Overseeing and ensuring that all MSDC operations and business activities produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission.
- Offering strategic direction to MSDC team on activities that aid fulfilment of its core training mandate as well as support services, fostering an appropriate work culture.
- Supervising and controlling all strategic functions and operstional aspects of MSDC including budget and governance processes in line with the relevant standards, policies and regulations.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring of policies to achieve internal control arrangements, ensuring compliance with internal control measures, procedures, policies and systems governing MSDC operations.
- Risk management and business continuity for MSDC including strategies and plans to improve internal capabilities and compliances to general requisite deficiencies and ensure advancement of human capital.
- Fostering effective human capital management practices and establishing a high performance work culture.
- Collaboration and partnership with Institutes of Higher Learning that aid the growth of the Training College.
Qualifications And Experience
- At least a Master’s Degree with relevant technical and/or Administration/Management area covering the MSDC vision.
- Knowledge of Higher & Tertiary Education management systems and mining training programmes will be a distinct advantage
- Sound knowledge of other related mining training institutions as well as Zimbabwe’s mining industry human capital development.
- Good leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
